Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to provide operations support and ownership for production‑critical applications at our Austin and Warren centers. You will ensure availability and performance using Site Reliability Engineering practices, across Linux, Windows, Kubernetes, cloud, Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL environments.

You will troubleshoot, deploy, monitor, and document changes, collaborating with business and tech teams to deliver reliable services to manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years in a technical IT role with production support experience.
• 3+ years supporting Linux and/or Windows operating systems.
• Experience with Oracle and/or SQL databases.
• Knowledge of Docker containers and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support applications used in vehicle assembly and propulsion manufacturing environments.
• Monitor health, availability, and performance of applications and infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues within defined service levels.
• Design and implement configuration changes to support business needs.
• Support deployments, patch releases, and production issue resolution.
• Perform root-cause analysis with multiple teams.
• Create and maintain runbooks, procedures, and documentation.
• Manage certificates, ownership activities, and support processes.
• Investigate issues across databases and operating environments using diagnostics.
• Provide remote technical support to manufacturing sites.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation after acclimation period.
