Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Melbourne, Florida, seeks an Engineer/Principal Systems Engineer - Prognostics (PHM) to join a team focused on health management across propulsion, avionics, and vehicle systems. This onsite role emphasizes integrating data from multiple sensors, applying prognostic models, and delivering robust diagnostics to improve fault isolation and system reliability.

The successful candidate will have a background in PHM, HM, and R&M engineering, with experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with 2 years experience or Master’s with 0 years
• Experience in Health Management, Prognostics, Diagnostics, and/or Reliability & Maintainability disciplines
• Experience with PHM or CBM+ technologies or analysis and simulation of complex systems
• Data analysis, probability, statistics, signal processing, and predictive modeling
• Anomaly/outlier detection in time series data
• Current in-scope U.S. Government Secret Clearance or ability to obtain program access

Responsibilities

• Analyze flight/fault logs, assign FID codes, and host customer BIT Review Boards
• Coordinate with stakeholders to improve BIT Fault Detection and Fault Isolation
• Develop models and scalable algorithms for health of Mission and Air Vehicle systems
• Create predictive models for degradation and prognostics
• Formulate health monitoring strategies to detect anomalies in flight data
• Conduct R&D on Prognostic Health Management and CBM+
• Gather and analyze failure history (MTBF, downtime, etc.)
• Present results to management and customers
• Collaborate with system engineers and data scientists
