Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to provide day-to-day operational support for complex cloud-based systems in a remote, US-based position for the Veterans Affairs department.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in systems engineering, strong Linux/Windows skills, cloud experience (AWS/Azure), scripting, IaC, CI/CD, and a security-conscious mindset. The role is W-2 and requires US citizenship or eligibility for the Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

8+ years of systems engineering experience, especially in production environments.
Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows servers.
Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud services and cloud-native tooling.
Proficient in scripting for automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
Experience with IaC and CI/CD pipelines and related tooling.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day operational support for complex cloud systems.
Develop solutions for routine technical problems and document outages/resolutions.
Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to ensure uptime and performance.
Maintain inventory of system assets and ensure VA security compliance.
Participate in continuous improvement of IT systems and procedures.
