Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Staff Systems Engineer to join a leading organization in the medical technology industry and work onsite in Durham, NC. The ideal candidate will lead the development and lifecycle management of advanced pharmacy automation products, driving systems engineering across complex electromechanical and robotic solutions in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of systems engineering experience in electromechanical/robotic products.
• Full lifecycle product development experience with regulated environments.
• Experience with DOORS or Jama Connect for requirements management.
• Bachelor's in Biomedical/Electrical Engineering or CS; Master's preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead system requirements, architecture, and design across the product lifecycle.
• Conduct system-level risk assessments, FMEA, and hazard analyses.
• Develop verification and validation plans to ensure product performance and quality.
• Partner with software, hardware, and cross-functional teams for product development.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues with root-cause analysis.
• Drive continuous improvement of systems engineering processes and tools.
