Job summary

Piper Companies seeks a Utility Engineer to support operations in an advanced life sciences manufacturing environment. The role focuses on maintaining utility, HVAC, and electrical systems that enable safe, compliant production of medicines while ensuring reliability and energy efficiency.

This onsite position in Durham, NC requires hands-on engineering, troubleshooting, and execution of maintenance, installation, and change control activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering with 5+ years in regulated environments
• Experience supporting utilities, HVAC, or electrical infrastructure
• Ability to maintain facility systems in a qualified/validated state per regulatory expectations
• Strong technical writing for controlled documentation
• Hands-on troubleshooting with PLCs and building management systems

Responsibilities

• Oversee utility, HVAC, and electrical systems supporting manufacturing processes
• Provide hands-on engineering support for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
• Coordinate and execute change control activities to keep systems validated and compliant
• Develop, review, and maintain procedures, specifications, and maintenance plans
• Identify system gaps, lead root cause investigations, and implement improvements
