Job summary

Iridium is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for the SDA project to bridge the Iridium Operations team and System Engineering in developing operations artifacts for mesh networks and ground segments.

Role involves on-orbit tests, documenting procedures, and coordinating cross-functional teams across a 24/7 operations environment with 12-hour shifts. Requires active security clearance and extensive space systems experience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience in satellite operations, on-orbit testing, ground system engineering, or software integration
• Strong knowledge of system engineering methodologies and AGILE processes
• Excellent communication skills to convey analyses and issues clearly
• Ability to build relationships with leadership and cross-functional teams
• Proactive in sharing knowledge and solving complex, multi-task problems

Responsibilities

• Lead on-orbit checkout and commissioning of a satellite and ground segment
• Develop and execute detailed test plans for on-orbit activities
• Coordinate integrated test teams for seamless operations and anomaly resolution
• Analyze real-time telemetry to assess health and performance
• Conduct root-cause analysis for anomalies and implement solutions
• Prepare technical briefings for senior leadership on status and risks
• Maintain documentation for on-orbit checkout procedures and test reports
• Interface with satellite vendors to ensure test synergy
• Develop system engineering artifacts related to SDA operations
• Provide integration support to improve ground and satellite operations
