Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Algorithms to support the JPALS program in developing and testing algorithmic models for GPS navigation systems. You will run simulations in Simulink and MATLAB, document equations, and analyze data to derive high-fidelity models.

The role requires strong communication, ability to work with a small team, and potential guidance to others. Security clearance is required; US citizenship is necessary.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree with minimum 3 years of experience.
• Proficient in MATLAB; code optimization and numerical stability.
• Proficient in data analysis and problem solving.
• Experience with model-driven design using Simulink and auto generated code.
• Experience in basic software development principles - configuration control, collaborative development, formal processes.
• Experience in reading and developing algorithm descriptions, mathematical expressions and derivations, matrix manipulations, outlier analysis, and system level analysis.
• Understands the systems engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Support the development algorithms, tools and models for the JPALS program
• Conduct statistical analysis, probability theory and Monte Carlo simulations
• Support independent research and analysis
• Work with a small team to conduct analysis for system trouble shooting and analysis
• Understand technical papers and algorithm descriptions and integrate them into high fidelity models
• Lead technical discussion with customers and team presentations
