Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking an Algorithms Senior Systems Engineer to support the Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS) program in Cedar Rapids, IA. The role focuses on developing and testing GPS navigation solutions, modeling with MATLAB/Simulink, and documenting equations and plots.

The candidate will perform data analysis, participate in model-based development, and contribute to lab work on target products.

Qualifications

• Requires degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with at least 3 years.
• Experience in MATLAB and Simulink required.
• Experience in code optimization and numerical stability.
• Experience in Systems Engineering discipline.
• Ability to read and develop algorithm descriptions, mathematical expressions and derivations, matrix manipulations, outlier analysis, and system level analysis.

Responsibilities

• Test algorithms and models for the JPALS program.
• Develop tools to perform sufficient testing.
• Work on multiple tasks in a software development environment.
• Conduct analysis for system trouble shooting.
• Improve code quality via code reviews and best practices.
• Analyze data using advanced mathematical and statistical techniques.
• Willingness to travel 10% and perform field-work.
