Job summary

North County Transit District in Oceanside, CA is seeking a Systems Engineer II to lead design, deployment, and sustainment of mission-critical technology systems supporting district operations across Track A and Track B.

The role provides senior technical leadership, manages complex escalations, mentors junior staff, and coordinates vendor relationships, with occasional field work and after-hours support.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of systems engineering experience with project leadership and complex operations support.
• Experience with enterprise server/networking and OT/IT integration in transit or industrial contexts is preferred.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end engineering for assigned systems from requirements to deployment.
• Own escalations and root-cause analysis; develop runbooks and diagrams.
• Plan lifecycle/patching, backups, and disaster recovery tests.
• Manage vendors/SOWs and budgeting.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and DR procedures.
