Job summary

NCTD in Oceanside, CA seeks a Systems Engineer II to plan, engineer, and sustain mission-critical technology systems across District operations. This role provides senior technical leadership, mentors Systems Engineer I staff, and manages high-priority projects with vendor coordination.

The position requires five years of progressively responsible systems engineering experience, strong scripting, security, and networking know-how, and travel between district facilities.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of progressively responsible systems engineering experience.
• Experience leading complex projects and coordinating vendors.
• Ability to design and implement enterprise-grade technology solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end engineering for assigned systems, including requirements, design, build, test, deploy, and sustainment.
• Own escalations and conduct root-cause analysis; create runbooks and diagrams.
• Plan lifecycle refresh, patching, vulnerability remediation, backups, and DR tests.
• Manage vendors and SOWs; evaluate technologies; prepare budget/replacement recommendations.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and DR procedures.
