Job summary

Milwaukee Tool in Wisconsin is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to lead cross-domain analysis, requirements decomposition, and architectures for multi-domain, battery-powered embedded electronics projects.

You will translate stakeholder needs into system requirements, drive risk mitigation, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with marketing and engineering to meet regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, embedded systems, energy storage systems, power electronics or related field.
• Demonstrated proficiency in applying systems thinking and systems engineering methodologies in mechatronic systems.
• Demonstrated proficiency in translating stakeholder asks into product requirements.
• Demonstrated proficiency in identifying and mitigating risks in a development setting.
• Experience collecting and analyzing test data from electromechanical systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, independent judgement and ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to travel 10% of the time (domestic and international).

Responsibilities

• Lead the impact analysis, development and strategy for company-wide challenges across multiple domains and product lines.
• Independently develop, decompose, and maintain system-level requirements ensuring alignment between objectives and implementation.
• Lead escalation of challenges to leaders and drive changes to address them.
• Define system and sub-system requirements and architectures, trading off between marketing and engineering.
• Create and maintain system collateral including block diagrams and interfaces.
• Support tools and processes for system engineering in agile, high-velocity development.
• Collaborate on system verification and validation strategies.
• Communicate progress and risks up/down across the organization; drive milestones.
• Drive project schedules and establish key metrics to meet organizational needs.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers.
• Use lab equipment like oscilloscopes, power supplies, e-loads, and data acquisition systems.
• Flow down requirements to domains to meet regulatory requirements (UL, CEC, CE, ANSI).
