Job summary

Blue River Technology seeks a Senior Systems Engineer for its autonomous construction initiative. You will define requirements, drive V&V, and build simulation tools to ensure safe operation across hardware, software, ML, and safety during development.

Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s in a related field and 5+ years in safety-critical systems, with Python, C++, and MATLAB/Simulink; Jama/DOORS/Jira experience; ROS/ROS2 a plus. The base pay range is $131k–$228k per year, with bonuses and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Robotics, Aerospace, Computer Science, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of post-academic experience in systems engineering for sophisticated, safety-critical cyber-physical systems (autonomous vehicles, robotics, aerospace).
• Proven track record of designing, documenting, and executing robust V&V programs for complex systems.
• Strong scripting or programming skills (Python, C++, MATLAB/Simulink) used to build, customize, and maintain simulation and validation tools.
• Experience with structured systems engineering methodologies and requirements management tools (Jama, DOORS, Jira).

Responsibilities

• Own the requirements lifecycle across hardware, software, and ML components.
• Maintain traceability matrices to connect high-level concepts to component specs and tests.
• Drive V&V strategy and define procedures for simulated and field-testing environments.
• Build validation tooling and validation frameworks to analyze performance and safety boundaries.
• Execute risk mitigation through FMEAs, FTAs, and HARA analyses.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to bridge ML researchers, software engineers, hardware designers, and safety managers.
