Job summary

Datavations in New York is seeking a senior engineer to own the data taxonomy and attributes domain end-to-end, including the extraction engine, transformation models, and orchestration pipelines. You will shape both the data systems and the customer-facing experiences on top of them.

You will collaborate with the data platform team to build reliable, observable pipelines, oversee quality gates, and set engineering standards.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience in Cloud Infrastructure, SRE, or Platform Engineering.
• Strong expertise with Terraform and infrastructure as code.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, ArgoCD).
• Strong expertise in architecting solutions using AWS services.
• Experience in Python, SQL, dbt, and modern orchestration tools (Dagster, Airflow, Prefect).
• Proficiency with a columnar data warehouse (e.g., ClickHouse, Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Experience with full-stack development (TypeScript, Next.js or similar).
• Experience building production data pipelines and maintaining observability/reliability.
• Experience with AI/LLM-based systems, including evaluation and versioning of prompts.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) and project management tools (Jira).

Responsibilities

• Own the attribute extraction engine and its configuration, quality gates, and cost profile.
• Own the transformation layer with dbt models for standardization and overrides.
• Oversee orchestration and reliability of pipelines using Dagster and related tooling.
• Own internal and customer-facing applications built with React/Next.js and backend services.
• Manage the write path with validated, logged, and auditable changes.
• Ensure data quality and observability with automated tests and anomaly detection.
• Set engineering standards including documentation, tests, and runbooks.
