HX5, LLC seeks a Senior Systems Engineer at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs. The role focuses on MBSE, SysML, and Digital Engineering to support DoD programs, systems integration, and architecture reviews.

The engineer will prepare technical documentation, perform system validation, and deliver presentations to leadership and customers. A strong DoD background and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• MBSE and SysML expertise required with experience in modern engineering tools and MBSE practices.
• Experience implementing a Digital Engineering Ecosystem within a DoD program.
• Strong ability to prepare technical documents, analyses, and presentations for customers and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Apply MBSE and SysML to system/subsystem design and architecture.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for planning, implementation and action.
• Validate systems and analyze results to ensure performance against specifications.
• Provide engineering support across acquisition, development, integration, and fielding efforts.
• Review ICDs, CDDs, AoAs, MUAs, CONOPs, and related standards for system concepts.

HX5 is currently seeking a qualified Systems Engineer to join the team at Peterson Space Force Base, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Possess experience and understanding of modern engineering tools, methods, and practices through Digital Engineering (DE), Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and Systems and Architectural design
• Possess experience in MBSE using Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and common tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw, Cameo Enterprise Architect, etc.
• Possess a strong understanding of implementing a Digital Engineering Ecosystem / Environment within a DoD system
• Conduct reviews to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance is achieved in accordance with approved specifications
• Prepare technical documents which define, specify, and recommend system/subsystem characteristics
• Prepare reports and conducts technical presentations for planning, implementation and corrective action using application of engineering economy principles, delivering presentations to customers, leadership, and technical personnel
• Perform validation of systems, including development of criteria and procedures. Analyze and/or evaluate results of major engineering systems
• Provide system/program engineering, technical support and technical training to support programs/initiatives, including but not limited to: acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding and installation, and operations oversight
• Provide proposal analysis support services that compare and quantify proposed systems, components, approaches for technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost effectiveness
• Provide concepts and requirements analyses support services including, but not limited to, reviewing and analyzing:
  • Initial Capabilities Documents (ICDs),
  • Capability Development Documents (CDDs),
  • Capability Production Documents (CDDs),
  • Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs),
  • Military Utility Assessments (MUAs),
  • Concepts of Operation (CONOPs),
  • Technology Development Strategies,
  • Functional Configuration Audits/Physical Configuration Audits (FCAs/PCAs), and
  • Technology Standards Profiles
• Review and analyze system concepts and user requirements that have been approved and entered into a system requirements baseline (functional, allocated, and product)

Salary:

The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $140,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Education and Experience:

• Master's degree in related field and twelve (12) years of relative experience, five (5) of which must be in the DoD OR
• Bachelor's degree in a related field and fifteen (15) years of relative experience, five (5) of which must be in the DoD OR
• Twenty (20) years of relative experience, eight (8) of which must be in the DoD.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Possesses the advanced knowledge, experience, and recognized ability to be considered an expert in Model Based Systems Engineering and traditional Systems Engineering.
• Possess the ability to perform tasks and oversee the efforts of junior and mid-level personnel within the technical/professional discipline.
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of their technical/professional discipline as well as possess a comprehensive understanding and ability to apply associated standards, procedures, and practices in Model Based Systems Engineering and traditional Systems Engineering.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday during core business hours.

Other Position Requirements:

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
• Must be able to travel, including air travel.
