Job summary

HX5, LLC is seeking an Electrical Engineer in support of the C3BM at Hill Air Force Base, Ogden, UT. The role involves performing system engineering reviews, developing system features, and translating DoD requirements into design specifications. The candidate will assist with test planning, cost evaluations, and FMS support.

The position requires 40 hours/week with a flexible schedule within core hours. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and ability to travel are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with DoD experience preferred.
• Experience with electrical circuit analysis, RF chain subspecialties, and electro‑mechanical controls.
• Experience modeling/simulation for electrical projects and hands-on testing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct system engineering reviews across the lifecycle, including concept development, validation, and production.
• Develop and refine system features; validate processes and techniques.
• Translate DoD user requirements into system requirements for design and testing of systems/subsystems.
• Review system baselines to assess architecture/interoperability requirements.
• Support development of system specifications and architecture products.
• Analyze engineering change proposals and provide recommendations to the Government POC.
• Perform life cycle cost evaluations on proposed systems/components.
• Assist with test and evaluation planning, execution, and result assessments.
• Coordinate availability of major test resources and ensure alignment with program objectives.
• Monitor T&E efforts and report progress and adherence to timelines.
• Assist in designing/test evaluating programs, including certifications and compliance.
• Support Foreign Military Sales (FMS) efforts as required.

Electrical Engineer, Journeyman

Hill Air Force Base

Ogden, UT

HX5 is currently seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer in support of the Command, Control, Communications, and Battle Management (C3BM) at Hill Air Force Base.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct system engineering reviews and analyses throughout the system lifecycle, including concept development, demonstration and validation, engineering and manufacturing development, production, deployment, and operations & support.
• Develop and/or refine system features, enhancing, extending, or validating existing processes, data, methods, or techniques.
• Assist in translating DoD user requirements into system requirements to guide the design, development, fabrication, testing, and evaluation of systems, subsystems, and equipment.
• Review overall system design baselines to assess architecture and interoperability requirements.
• Support the development of system specifications and architecture products.
• Perform independent analysis of engineering change proposals, specifications, and vendor submissions, providing recommendations to the Government POC regarding their acceptability.
• Conduct life cycle cost evaluations on proposed systems and components.
• Assist with test and evaluation (T&E) activities, including test planning, execution, and result assessments to ensure compliance with operational requirements.
• Evaluate and coordinate the availability and capability of major DoD and civilian test resources and facilities.
• Support scheduling and securing of required test resources in alignment with program office objectives.
• Monitor, assess, and report on T&E efforts, ensuring adherence to project timelines and requirements.
• Assist in designing, planning, executing, analyzing, reporting, and documenting test and evaluation programs, including certifications and compliance procedures.
• Contribute to the development of technical plans by reviewing technical documents, participating in working groups, tracking risk and issue resolution, and supporting special studies to evaluate alternative approaches.
• Provide support for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) efforts as required.

Education and Experience

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, and three (3) years of related experience, three (3) of which must be in the DoD
• OR 7 years of directly related experience, five (5) of which must be in the DoD
• Experience with design and development of Electrical circuit analysis, RF chain sub-specialties (antenna design, high‑power transmitters/amplifiers, receiver processing, etc.), and electro‑mechanical controls.
• Experience with modeling and simulation for electrical engineering projects
• Hands‑on experience conducting and assessing electrical system tests.
• Experience or application to DoD systems.
• Understanding of the DoD acquisition processes including technical data package development, sustainment, and principles of configuration management
• Familiarity with:
• Electronic Warfare and/or Air Combat Operations, including live aircrew training and tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) development.
• Range Infrastructure Architectures & Systems.
• Foreign Ground Radar technology and applications.

Preferred

• Degree in a related engineering field from an ABET accredited institution.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday during core business hours.

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.Must have or be able to obtain a Secret clearance by date of hire.
• Must be able to travel, including air travel.
