Job summary

Intec Select is helping an established insurance firm in Houston, TX hire a Senior Systems Administrator to join its IT team. The role centers on enterprise infrastructure across Windows servers, Active Directory, Exchange, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), storage, backup and automation.

You will be the senior escalation point, own infrastructure stability, disaster recovery and service improvements, participate in on-call rotations, and collaborate with third‑party vendors.

Qualifications

• 3rd-line / senior systems administration experience.
• Strong Microsoft infrastructure experience, including Windows Servers, Active Directory and Exchange.
• Hands-on experience with VMware or Hyper-V.
• Experience with storage and backup technologies.
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience working with third-party vendors.
• Proactive approach to infrastructure improvement and automation.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with IT teams.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rota.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain enterprise infrastructure and systems
• Perform scheduled system checks and proactive maintenance
• Identify and implement infrastructure and service improvements
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues
• Support disaster recovery activities
• Assist with capacity management and infrastructure planning
• Liaise with third-party technology providers and internal stakeholders
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues
• Contribute to automation and service optimisation initiatives
• Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rotation
• Support early/late operational coverage when required
