Job summary

San Diego State University is seeking a Systems Administrator III to support and maintain the enterprise infrastructure that powers the university’s operations. You will work with on-premises and cloud environments, server platforms, virtualization, and directory services to ensure secure, reliable systems.

In this role, you will troubleshoot complex issues, lead projects, and mentor junior staff while collaborating with IT colleagues and campus partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field with four years of relevant experience.
• Experience supporting enterprise server infrastructure and cloud environments.
• Advanced scripting experience in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and support enterprise servers, OS, virtualization, directory services, and cloud infrastructure.
• Monitor system performance, security, and perform root-cause analysis.
• Manage updates, patches, backups, and configurations for reliable operations.
• Support system integrations and access controls.
• Lead infrastructure projects and automation initiatives.
