Job summary

Boston University IS&T is seeking a Systems Administrator III to manage server operating systems, hypervisors, storage, and related hardware and software across enterprise IT services. You will lead medium- to high-complexity projects as a SME or project lead, helping ensure reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of relevant work experience across multiple technical areas.
• Experience with server operating systems, hypervisors, storage, and related hardware and software.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and recommend new technology and techniques to enhance the performance, reliability, and availability of IT resources and services.
• Work with cross-functional teams to install, test, and transition server operating systems, hypervisors, processes, and related hardware and software into production; evaluate and apply upgrades; and maintain systems and documentation.
• Provide off-hours on-call support and assistance during incidents; serve as Level 2 technical support for the Help Desk; and support the development, maintenance, and periodic testing of business continuity and disaster recovery procedures.
• Coordinate with vendors on problem resolution; understand contractual obligations and elevate as required; detect, diagnose, isolate, and correct system faults; and support incident and problem management activities.
• Support Engineering in defining and reporting availability, capacity, alert, and service-level metrics.
• Coach and mentor more junior technical staff.
