The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, implementation, optimization, maintenance, and recovery of enterprise systems across on-premises and cloudbased environments.
This role serves as a subject matter expert for complex operating systems and core infrastructure services, supporting system availability, performance, security, and scalability.
Working as part of an international support team, the Sr. System Administrator recommends and implements improvements to infrastructure systems, operating platforms, and related applications. Systems supported may include Microsoft Azure IaaS, PaaS, Microsoft Office 365, EntraID, MFA, Information Protection, Active Directory, MS Windows Server, Linux Server OS, SAN/NAS storage, enterprise backup platforms, and related infrastructure technologies.
The role may also support infrastructure configurations related to ERP and integration platforms, including SAP and Dell Boomi.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Platform Ownership:
- Manages the day-to-day operations of infrastructure hardware and software, including system performance, configuration, maintenance, patching, and repair.
- Administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise systems across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Apply revisions to host system firmware and software. Works with vendors to assist support activities.
- Support core infrastructure services, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft PKI, Microsoft Entra ID, Group Policy, SCCM, Intune, Bitlocker, Key Management, Privileged Identity Management, Log Analytics, and Digital Rights Management
- Manage and support SAN/NAS storage infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, capacity, and scalability.
- Maintain enterprise backup and recovery systems, including procedures, documentation, and restoration processes for host operating systems, and host-based applications.
- Support Microsoft Azure lasS/PaaS, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Linux Server, and related infrastructure platforms.
- Perform system health monitoring, capacity planning, lifecycle management, patching, and firmware/software updates.
- Support virtualization platforms, including Hyper‑V and VMware.
- Provide after hours on call support on a rotation schedule with other staff members
Troubleshooting, Automation & Continuous Improvement:
- Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex infrastructure issues, working with vendors and internal support teams as needed.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure automation capabilities to improve service delivery, operational efficiency, and business continuity.
- Create tools, procedures, and documentation to support Client Support, Applications Development, and other internal teams.
- Recommend system redesigns, configuration changes, and technology improvements to strengthen performance, reliability, security, and scalability.
- Stay current with developments in systems administration, infrastructure automation, cloud services, and enterprise security technologies.
Security, Compliance & Governance:
- Enforce established procedures and governance policies to maintain security and protect infrastructure from unauthorized access, misuse, and service disruption.
