Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is seeking a Sr. System Safety Engineer to support the B-2 program. The role may be based in Palmdale, CA or other listed locations, with responsibilities to develop and deliver System Safety products per MIL-STD-882 guidance.

You will lead hazard analyses, SRR/ PDR/ CDR packages, and risk communications while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with IPTs to ensure safety compliance across the program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with 9+ years of engineering experience, or 7+ years with a Master’s
• Experience with MIL-STD-882 or ARP4754 safety programs
• Ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance and SAP clearance

Responsibilities

• Identify, classify, adjudicate, and manage hazards in a closed-loop system
• Coordinate cross-IPT activities to support hazard and safety requirement adjudication
• Communicate safety risk to appropriate levels
• Maintain awareness of system design and functions
• Prepare and present SRR, PDR, and CDR packages for hazards and safety requirements
• Flow down derived safety requirements to IPTs
• Deliver CDRL items
• Acquire design cognizance of the aircraft
• Identify and document Subsystem Hazards and CSIs
• Mentor safety engineers of varying experience levels
