Job summary

Supernal is hiring a Lead Engineer, System Safety in Irvine, CA to own the safety function for our eVTOL program. You will define safety strategies, guide risk assessments and ensure regulatory alignment across engineering domains and suppliers.

The role requires extensive experience in aviation safety standards, DO-178/DO-254 and ARP4754A/ARP4761, with leadership in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. On-site work five days a week in Irvine.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, electrical, mechanical engineering is required.
• Advanced degree is preferred for leadership in safety engineering.

Responsibilities

• Own the System Safety function for assigned aircraft programs and the safety strategy across the lifecycle.
• Serve as the technical authority for system safety, providing direction, prioritization and risk disposition recommendations.
• Lead safety analyses across engineering disciplines and with suppliers and partners.
• Represent the safety organization in executive reviews with clear communication of status and risks.
• Drive safety process improvements aligned with ARP4754A/ARP4761 and PL.2510.
• Collaborate with design, test, flight operations and compliance teams to ensure safety requirements are met.
• Mentor safety engineers and cross-functional teams in safety system engineering best practices.
