Job summary

Supernal, LLC, is seeking a Sr. Manager, Mechanical and Flight Systems Engineering in Irvine, CA. You will guide development, certification, and life-cycle management of dynamic systems, airframe elements, and interiors for prototype and production programs, reporting to the CTO.

The role demands extensive experience with fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft, composite design, and cross-functional leadership, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. On-site work required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical or equivalent disciplines is required.
• Ten years minimum experience with fixed- or rotary-wing aircraft concept development, product design and analysis, test, certification, production, and in-service support.
• Seven years minimum experience with composite design, analysis and production.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build productive relationships quickly with internal and external leaders.
• Experience with aerospace development program planning, budgeting, technology road-mapping, cross-functional collaboration and multi-site leadership is desired.

Responsibilities

• Guide development, implementation, and certification of dynamic systems (rotor, gearbox), airframe, flight systems, and interiors components for prototype and production programs.
• Ensure structural integrity of rotors and airframe through analysis and test.
• Coordinate requirements development and supplier selection for flight systems including avionics and landing gear.
• Develop program M&FS requirements and supervise validation and verification.
• Manage schedule, budget, work scope, and risk across multiple programs.
