Job summary

Leidos Defense seeks a System Safety Engineer to join a matrixed team of engineers across safety, systems, and human factors. You will lead safety activities for a vehicle-based radar program and coordinate with IPTs to ensure compliance with MIL-STD-882E and customer needs.

The role emphasizes hazard analyses, requirements derivation for complex systems, and collaboration in a multi-disciplinary environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university with 8+ years of experience or an MS with 6+ years.
Familiarity with MIL-STD-882E and its application to system safety programs.
Experience deriving requirements for complex electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and software systems.
Capable of collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and effectively communicating within a team environment.
Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville – North Alabama, AL area.
Active secret clearance.

Responsibilities

Lead the prime contractor system safety working group engaging the customer and IPTs.
Coordinate with Integrated Product Teams on safety efforts and define tasking from customer needs and contracts.
Provide hazard tracking, mitigation, and regular safety reporting to the customer.
