Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems Sector is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join a matrixed team of engineers. You will balance 1–3 efforts weekly, developing safety artifacts for diverse applications, from physics-based modeling to hardware development, with both classified and unclassified work.

Candidates with DoD program experience and the ability to work independently will excel. A secret clearance is required, and relocation to the Huntsville, AL area may be necessary.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited deg in engineering with 8+ years experience or MS with 6+ years.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-882E and its application to system safety.
• Experience deriving requirements for complex systems (electrical, ME, software).
• Able to work in a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment.
• Strong communication within a team and willingness to relocate if needed.
• Secret clearance or above.

Responsibilities

• Perform system safety analysis tasks per MIL-STD-882E and contract requirements.
• Balance multiple program efforts within a matrixed engineering organization.
• Lead and participate in hazard analyses and safety artifacts development.
• Coordinate with Systems, SE, and risk-management teams across projects.
