Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems Sector seeks a System Safety Engineer to support multiple efforts in a matrixed environment. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace or equivalent from ABET-accredited university with 8+ years, or MS with 6+ years.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-882E and its application to system safety programs.
• Experience deriving requirements for complex electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, and software systems.
• Ability to work in a collaborative engineering environment with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills within a team setting.
• Residency in the Huntsville - North Alabama area or willingness to relocate.
• Must possess a secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform system safety analysis tasks in accordance with MIL-STD-882E and customer requirements.
• Balance multiple efforts within a matrixed organization across domains from physics-based modeling to hardware development.
• Independently define tasking derived from customer needs and contractual documents.
• Contribute to leadership paths in System Safety and related engineering fields.
