Overview

GovCIOisseekinga highly skilled Senior System Administrator to support the management and maintenance of the Veterans Affairs IT infrastructure. This role involves troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues, ensuringoptimalperformance and security, and executing scheduled maintenance and upgrade activities. The candidate will collaborate with stakeholders, government leadership, and engineering teams to design,maintain, andoptimizeserver environments in alignment with customer requirements.This is a fully remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Proactivelymonitorsystem performance, diagnose issues, and implement innovative solutions to enhance reliability and security.
  • Ensure rigorous security compliance by overseeing access controls, backups, andfirewallmanagement.
  • Lead the administration of network servers and technology tools, driving continuous improvement and scalability.
  • Establish and configure user accounts and workstations to support seamless organizational productivity.
  • Execute system upgrades, deploying new releases and tools tomaintaincutting-edgetechnology standards.
  • Maintain detailed internal documentation of system configurations and policies to ensure clarity, consistency, and operational excellence.
  • Prepare andmaintainmonthly POA&Ms for each Authority to Operate (ATO) package, reflecting the status of monthly vulnerability scans.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering,or a related field with 12+years of relevant experience(preferably in application support or development).
  • Provenproblem-solving andanalytical abilities.
  • Excellentcommunicationand collaborationskills.

Preferred Skills And Experience

  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with customers and internal cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of consolidating national clinical and administrative datasets.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
  • Evaluate and resubmit controls for Autority to Operate validation on an annual basis.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, andfirewallconfigurations.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to obtain andmaintaina suitability/Public Trust

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $130,000.00 - USD $150,000.00 /Yr.
