GovCIO is seeking a highly skilled System Administrator to support the management and maintenance of the Veterans Affairs IT infrastructure. This is a night shift role that involves troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues, ensuring optimal performance and security, and executing scheduled maintenance and upgrade activities. The candidate will collaborate with stakeholders, government leadership, and engineering teams to design, maintain, and optimize server environments in alignment with customer requirements. This is a fully remote position.

Please note: The contract has been awarded; however, this position remains unfunded and is contingent upon funding release.

Responsibilities

• Proactively monitors system performance, diagnoses issues, and implements solutions to enhance reliability and security.
• Ensures security compliance by overseeing access controls, backups, and firewall management.
• Leads the administration of network servers and technology tools, driving improvements and scalability.
• Establishes and configures user accounts and workstations to support organizational productivity.
• Executes system upgrades, deploying new releases and tools to maintain cutting-edge standards.
• Maintains detailed internal documentation of system configurations and policies.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, engineering, or related field with 12 years of relevant experience.
• Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Interpersonal skills to collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewall configurations.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.

Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
