Job summary

Tectonic Engineering & Surveying Consultants P.C in Brandon, FL is seeking a full-time Crew Chief to lead surveying field teams on upcoming projects. The role involves operating total stations, data collectors, GPS, and related equipment, collecting data from plans and records, and staking projects using engineering drawings.

The successful candidate will supervise day-to-day field work, lay out grids, determine horizontal and vertical controls, and maintain equipment and vehicles.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of surveying experience with a strong working knowledge of surveying equipment.
• Detail oriented, with the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Knowledge of Nikon Nivo or Trimble Robot equipment a plus.
• Ability to review/understand written civil construction and architectural plans and specifications.
• Availability to work overtime as needed, with the ability to travel for overnight assignments.
• Must possess a HS Diploma or equivalent; AAS in Surveying a plus.
• Possession of or ability to obtain OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety Certification and applicable scaffolding training certifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate survey instruments such as total stations, data collectors, GPS and other gear to collect data from plans and source materials.
• Stake projects for construction using engineering plans and lay out grids.
• Determine horizontal and vertical controls and maintain survey equipment and vehicles.
• Direct and supervise day-to-day work of surveying crews; perform other duties as assigned.
