Job summary

Johnston's Surveying in Florida is seeking a Crew Chief to lead field crews of Survey Techs on boundary, topographic, and construction staking surveys. You will be on-site senior, running the crew, owning data quality, and making field calls that ensure accuracy and efficiency.

This leadership role provides a clear path to Party Chief, requiring 3+ years of field surveying, strong GPS/GNSS and robotic total station skills, and a commitment to safety and client communication in outdoor Florida

Qualifications

3+ years of field surveying with crew leadership.
Experience with GPS/GNSS and robotic total stations.
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
Physical stamina for full-day outdoor work.
Knowledge of field safety standards.
Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team.

Responsibilities

Direct a crew of 1–2 Survey Techs and manage daily workflow.
Make field calls for methodology and boundary interpretation as needed.
Operate and maintain GPS/GNSS units, robotic total stations, and data collectors.
Review field data before leaving site to ensure quality.
Develop Survey Techs on proper equipment use and field technique.
Act as on-site liaison for clients, contractors, and property owners, reporting delays or changes.
Enforce field safety standards and crew compliance.
