Job summary

UNC Health Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC, is seeking a Surgical Technologist II to support a busy operating room team. You will assist surgeons and registered nurses, maintain sterile fields, prepare instruments, and help with cases across multiple service lines to ensure patient safety and procedure efficiency.

The role requires BLS certification and CST or TS-C/Tech in Surgery credentials, with 3+ years of surgical tech experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program; or Military Training in Surgical Technology; or equivalent education/training may substitute for 5+ years of experience.
• 3+ years of experience in surgical tech preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs surgical scrub duties across service areas.
• Maintains sterile field and proper labeling of drugs and solutions.
• Assists in instrument setup and planning for procedures.
• Roles model for new hires and mentors surgical tech peers.
• Participates in data collection for research projects.
