Job summary

UNC Health Johnston is seeking a Surgical Technologist II to support intraoperative care across multiple service lines in the OR. You will assist surgeons and RNs, maintain sterile technique, and ensure equipment and supplies are ready for procedures in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 3+ years of experience, BLS, CST/TS-C certification, and strong teamwork skills. This full-time, onsite position offers a competitive hourly wage and on-call opportunities in Clayton, NC.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program graduate.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider certification; CST or TS-C certification.
• 3+ years of professional experience as a surgical tech.
• Successful completion of UNC Health Surgical Technologist competencies.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical skill duties in all operating room service areas with proper practices.
• Maintains instrumentation sterilization and handling per standards.
• Follows aseptic technique and corrects contamination or breaches.
• Performs surgical counts and reports discrepancies.
• Establishes and maintains sterile field; labels drugs and solutions.
• Assists with instrument planning, setup, and case preparation and supports the surgical team.
