Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; accredited Surgical Tech or Nursing program preferred.
• Licensure/certification: BLS for Healthcare Provider; CST or TS-C required.
• Professional experience: minimum 3 years in surgical technology.

Responsibilities

• Perform OR duties across service areas with proper practices.
• Maintain, assemble, sterilize instrumentation and equipment.
• Follow aseptic technique; identify contamination and take corrective actions.
• Perform surgical counts and report discrepancies.
• Maintain sterile field; label drugs and monitor quantities.
• Prepare and label surgical specimens.
• Plan and set up instruments, supplies, and drapes for procedures.
• Assist surgeon, understanding anatomy and abnormalities relevant to the case.
• Prepare cases; plan instrument needs; address deficiencies.
• Adapt scrubbing procedures as needed; respond to emergencies.
• Inventory, receive and store supplies under leadership.
• Mentor/train new hires and supervise peers during orientation.
• Identify/report defective instruments; restock operating rooms.
• Assist RN during intraoperative phase of nursing practice.
• Participate in data collection for research projects.
• Operate complex OR equipment; troubleshoot as necessary.
