Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist I to assist in the operating room, set up instrumentation, and maintain a sterile field for diverse procedures. You will support surgeons, prep materials, and help ensure a safe environment for patients of all ages.

The role requires completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program with BLS certification within 6 months and offers opportunities to participate in ongoing education and call coverage as part of the surgical team.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• No experience required.
• BLS certification to be obtained within 6 months unless exempted.

Responsibilities

• Performs procedures and maintains advanced knowledge; assists with complex cases as resource to others.
• Sets up equipment per physician specs; maintains sterile field and inventory.
• Precepts Surgical Technologists I and supports team during procedures.
• Ensures safe, efficient operating room environment and aseptic technique.
• Notifies staff of equipment/supply issues; assists with patient handling and positioning.
• Serves as Second Assistant when needed and supports instrument room tasks.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate patient care and participates in education/meetings.
