Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Fremont, California is seeking a Senior Surgical Technician for the Operating Room. Under direct supervision, you assist the surgical team before, during, and after surgery, providing expert support and maintenance of instruments and equipment.

You will supervise and train other technicians, coordinate equipment, ensure sterility, assist with patient positioning, and support a wide range of surgical specialties to promote safe, efficient patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of current acute Operating Room experience.
• High School Diploma/GED.
• Basic Life Support.
• Surgical Technicians certified by the Association of Operating Room Technicians shall qualify as Senior Surgical Technicians.
• Strong experience with a wide range of surgical specialties.
• Willingness to train RNs and other disciplines in scrub role.

Responsibilities

• Direct, check, review, assign, organize and coordinate the work of Surgical Technicians. Lead with minimal supervision.
• Coordinate equipment configuration and ensure sterility and readiness for procedures.
• Assist with patient positioning, gowning, gloving, and scrub procedures as needed.
• Hand instruments to surgeon, assist during operation, and manage counts per policy.
• Promote patient safety and high-quality care in the OR.
• Clean and turnover rooms; sterilize equipment as required.
• Recommend guidelines for equipment use and procurement to supervisor.
• Assemble case carts and prepare supplies for procedures.
• Perform related duties and supervise staff as applicable.
