Job summary

Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a Scheduling Coordinator for complex inpatient and ambulatory surgical procedures. You will align block schedules with clinical staff, coordinate preop clearances, and ensure timely, accurate communication of schedules to surgeons and admissions.

Qualifications include a minimum of 2 years in healthcare administration and 1 year in direct surgical scheduling. Strong analytical, written and spoken communication, and empathy are essential to success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 2 years of healthcare admin experience.
• 1 year of direct surgical scheduling experience preferred for external candidates.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with empathy.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate complex scheduling of inpatient and ambulatory surgical procedures for operating rooms.
• Prepare daily surgical schedules with equipment needs and non-surgical use considerations.
• Communicate with surgeons, staff, and admissions to confirm schedules and requirements.
• Notify referring physicians of upcoming procedures and manage OR time requests.
• Monitor scheduling data in hospital systems and print/distribute schedules.
• Assist onboarding and provide ongoing support to staff; train new team members.
