Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories seeks a 2910/2920 Surety Systems Engineer (SSE) in Albuquerque, NM. You will lead R&D contributions across product realization, from requirements engineering to verification and validation, interfacing with multiple enterprises to ensure safety and reliability of high-consequence systems.

The role demands strong engineering judgment, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to manage risks early in design and production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and engineering or scientific experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q- level security clearance

Responsibilities

• Apply technical judgment using advanced engineering principles to recognize and formulate innovative solutions for a wide variety of technical challenges related to electrical, mechanical, software, computer science, and materials science in support of product realization.
• Collaborate with R&D teams to define system requirements that are necessary, feasible, unambiguous, and verifiable.
• Lead research and development teams in identifying and transforming unknown technical challenges into known risks to ensure safety, security, and reliability of the product.
• Determine and manage critical design and production parameters; identify manufacturing activities that affect product performance.
• Develop verification methods for complex requirements, often from analysis and simulated environmental testing.
