Sandia National Laboratories seeks an experienced R&D Electrical/ Electronics Engineer to join the Surety System Engineering group, with emphasis on Category 1 equipment assurance. The role requires deep circuit analysis, software safety work, and testing of high‑consequence hardware across DoD interfaces.

Travel to Albuquerque/Pantex and collaboration with LANL/LLNL and NNSA are expected; on-site 80% at Pantex is required. DOE security clearance is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
• Experience designing high-consequence Category 1 hardware and software.
• Strong collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsabilités

• Analyze electrical schematics, environmental specs, and system docs using NW drawing system.
• Perform Fault Tree and Failure analysis at multiple levels of the system.
• Develop testing approaches and configurations across environmental conditions.
• Verify functionality from FPGA/ASIC/SoC to PWBs/subassemblies.
• Develop qualification and safety plans for authorization of high-consequence hardware/software.
• Partner with design teams, test organizations, safety and independent assessment groups.
• Present at program reviews and nuclear safety studies on risks and issues.
• Interface with Sandia, LANL, LLNL, NNSA, Pantex, Kansas City, and DOD.
• Lead R&D teams to transform unknown challenges into technical risks and mitigations.
