Munich Re Specialty - North America is seeking a Senior Claims Specialist - Surety to lead in-house handling of Performance and Payment Bonds. You will guide investigations, adjust and litigate with counsel and vendors, and drive recoveries while assessing coverage and exposures.

This role requires 8+ years in surety claims, strong analytical and negotiation skills, and the ability to travel up to 25%. The team offers a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities across North America.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; JD a plus.
• 8+ years of experience handling surety matters.
• Detail-oriented, adaptable, and strategic in decision-making.
• Strong analytical thinking and negotiation skills.
• Good verbal and writing skills for internal/external communication.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Thorough investigation and assessment of claims against surety bonds for coverage, damages, and recovery opportunities.
• Understanding of coverage issues, bond forms, contracts, and regulatory requirements for Performance and Payment Bonds.
• Proactive management of claims with a strategic vision for optimal outcome.
• Set and adjust reserves over the life of the claim to reflect exposure changes.
• Coordinate and manage outside counsel and vendors to obtain optimal results.
• Present high exposure claims to Claims Leadership and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal/external partners for client meetings and product improvements.
• Seek ways to improve claim efficiencies and outcomes.
