About this Role:

The Fund Accounting & Disbursements Branch provides a full range of accounting services for the state operations & local assistance activities. Under the direction of the Accounting Administrator I, the incumbent is responsible for performing professional supervision & accounting work in the preparation & maintenance of monthly reconciliations for the Support Payables & Travel Unit. This will include review and reconciliation of accounting support expenditures of voucher payments made in the accounting system Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal), leases, direct transfers, contractual & purchase agreements, Office Revolving Fund (ORF), Liens & Levies issuances to medical providers, California Automated Travel Expense Reimbursement Systems (CalATERS) claims, travel advances, relocation, airlines, car rental & year-end accruals.

Working Conditions

Work in a high-rise building. Typical work requires prolonged sitting using a computer, calculator & telephone. Common eye, hand, & finger dexterity is required for most essential functions. Grasping & making repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties. Some carrying/moving of objects up to twenty pounds. Understand, follow & enforce all safety rules & procedures.

This position is located in East End Complex (EEC) across the street from the California State Capitol Park and the Rose Garden. The EEC is walking distance to public transportation and near various eateries.

The Fiscal Program’s Financial Management Division (FMD) works to accomplish DHCS’s mission through fiscal integrity, transparency, and accountability of approximately $166.3 billion annually. This is accomplished by overseeing the financial operations of DHCS, including financial reporting, resource management, and budget development and oversight. FMD provides guidance and consultation to programs on funding needs, expenditures, including contracts and purchasing, and audit support, while ensuring funds are accurately reported.

Telework Information

This position offers a hybrid work schedule as outlined in the telework information section below; the amount of telework is based on the operational business needs. Beginning July 1, 2025, pursuant to Executive Order N-22-25 issued March 3, 2025, and California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) Statewide Guidance issued March 13, 2025, DHCS team members generally will be required to report in-person a minimum of four days per week unless exempted/excepted.

All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
