Job summary

Appleton Finn is seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent to lead field operations for complex commercial construction projects in Winston-Salem. You will provide on-site leadership to ensure safety, schedule, budget, and quality benchmarks are met across multiple teams and trade partners.

You will coordinate project activities, mentor field staff, and partner with owners, design teams, and inspectors to drive successful project delivery from preconstruction through closeout.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 10–15 years of commercial construction experience.
• Experience in superintendent or senior superintendent roles.
• Ability to travel regionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site leadership for commercial projects.
• Lead, mentor, and develop project personnel.
• Develop and manage detailed project schedules with the Project Manager.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and field personnel.
• Lead planning meetings and look-ahead scheduling.
• Maintain safety compliance with all regulations.
• Conduct site inspections and hazard assessments.
• Monitor quality against contract documents and codes.
• Identify schedule conflicts and field issues and propose solutions.
• Coordinate with project management, owners, and design teams.
• Oversee site logistics, deliveries, equipment, and temporary facilities.
• Review drawings and resolve field questions.
• Manage inspections, testing, and closeout activities.
• Provide timely field reporting and progress updates.
• Participate in preconstruction planning and execution strategies.
• Build strong relationships with clients and partners.
