Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) in Knoxville is seeking a SUE field technician to designate utilities and lead field crews on mapping projects. The role requires 4–5 years of SUE field experience, knowledge of ASCE 38, and the ability to travel for extended periods.

You will use total stations and RTK/GPR equipment to collect data and support infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate brings survey experience and a proven track record of leading crews, along with strong safety and data

Qualifications

SUE field experience (4–5 years) preferred.
Experience leading SUE QL-A & QL-B field crews.
Experience as a project-level field supervisor on SUE QL-A & QL-B projects preferred.
Survey experience preferred.
Military experience is a plus.
Thorough understanding of ASCE 38 guidelines and quality levels.

Responsibilities

Designate utilities in rural and urban environments using geophysical equipment and field survey.
Obtain and maintain all required safety certifications.
Lead SUE QL-A and QL-B field crews on mapping projects.
Apply non-standard surface-geophysical equipment for complex utility systems.
Collect data and complete vault diagrams for mapping projects.
Coordinate with clients, utility owners, and field partners.
Interpret planimetric and design plans, profiles and utility records.
