Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Substation Test Technician for our Field Engineering team. You will test and maintain medium and high voltage equipment in utility substations, ensuring safety and accuracy in every procedure.

Responsibilities include acceptance testing up to 500kV, transformer and breaker testing, and troubleshooting controls, with documentation in Power DB. A minimum of 3 years in substations and ABET/tech education is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School/GED with electrical/power background
• 2-year technical school or ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 3 years in substations/power plants and related protection and control
• Familiar with Omicron and Doble software is a plus
• Strong communication, MS Office proficiency, valid driver’s license, English required

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance and maintenance testing up to 500kV in substations
• Inspect, test, and troubleshoot medium/high voltage equipment and transformers
• Read schematics and wiring diagrams; document test results in Power DB
• Mentor teammates and ensure production timelines
• Maintain safety and compliance at all times
