Job summary

WSP is seeking a Substation Senior Structural Engineer to join our East Energy team in Buffalo, NY. You will lead a Civil/Structural team on electrical substation projects, handling foundations, structures, bus supports, and control buildings.

You will coordinate with multiple disciplines, develop specs, cost estimates, and schedules, and ensure workmanship meets client and WSP standards. Occasional travel may be required; strong English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• BSCE (Civil or Structural) from ABET-accredited college is required.
• 5–7 years of post-education structural design experience.
• Expertise in structural analysis: steel, concrete, soil mechanics, foundations.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
• PE exam completed or in process; familiarity with codes (ASCE, ACI, AISC, IEEE).

Responsibilities

• Lead engineers, designers, and drafters in electrical substation structural design.
• Develop structural construction specifications, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines and ensure adherence to client and WSP standards.
• Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs; provide construction phase support.
• Occasional travel may be required.
