Job summary

WSP is seeking a Substation Electrical Engineer for its Buffalo, NY office to deliver high voltage substation designs within the Power and Energy Team. You will work under the Supervising Engineer, coordinating plans, studies and drawings to meet project schedules and client objectives.

The role requires 3-5 years of HV substation design experience, consulting firm background, PE eligibility, and strong communication skills. Occasional travel and site visits are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 3-5 years of working experience in high-voltage substation design.
• Experience in consulting firms.
• Eligible for P.E. licensing.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Prepare substation plans and profile views, grounding, lighting, trenching and cable layout.
• Perform studies and design calculations (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, grounding, etc.).
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary team to meet project schedules.
• Prepare technical specifications and evaluate vendor drawings.
• Produce accurate design drawings in AutoCAD or MicroStation.
• Attend site meetings and perform site inspections during construction.
