Job summary

The Haskell Company seeks a Senior Substation SCADA & Communication Engineer to lead design, implementation, and integration of advanced SCADA and communication systems across substations and grid interconnections.

You will oversee RTU/PLC/HMI configurations, network architectures, and compliance with NERC/FERC LGIA standards, while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with utilities and interconnection stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering with ABET accreditation.
8+ years in power system automation, SCADA integration, and substation comms design.
Experience configuring RTU/PLC/HMI systems (SEL RTAC, GE D20, NovaTech Orion, Schneider).
Strong knowledge of SCADA protocols: DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850/GOOSE.
Understanding of NERC CIP, LGIA interconnection, and cyber security basics.

Responsibilities

Lead design and implementation of substation SCADA systems (RTUs, HMIs, PLCs).
Develop network architectures for transmission substations and control centers.
Engineer systems using Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, Ethernet/IP protocols.
Produce SCADA design packages: block diagrams, BOM, wiring diagrams, and maps.
Configure RTUs/IEDs/HMIs and perform field commissioning and testing.
Serve as primary technical contact for utilities and interconnection stakeholders.
Support construction teams and resolve field integration issues.
Ensure SCADA/Cybersecurity compliance with NERC/FERC/LGIA requirements.
Mentor engineers and provide input during proposals and bid reviews.
Drive tooling and process improvements, exploring AI-based diagnostics and digital twins.
