Job summary

Haskell is seeking a Senior Substation SCADA & Communication Engineer to lead design, implementation, and integration of advanced SCADA and communication systems for substations, renewable generation facilities, and grid interconnection points.

The ideal candidate brings deep RTU/PLC/HMI experience, industry protocols like DNP3 and IEC 61850, and strong knowledge of NERC/FERC compliance and cybersecurity practices. Senior leadership and client-facing responsibilities are central to the role.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (ABET-accredited).
8+ years of experience in power system automation, SCADA integration, and substation communication system design.
PE license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable time.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and implementation of substation SCADA systems, including RTUs, HMIs, PLCs, data concentrators, I/O devices, and communication processors.
Develop network architectures and communication topologies for transmission substations, renewable plants, and control centers.
Engineer communication systems using Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, Ethernet/IP, and other standard protocols.
Prepare SCADA design packages: block diagrams, layouts, schematics, BOM, settings files, and network diagrams.
Configure and validate RTUs/IEDs/HMIs/automation controllers; perform field commissioning and diagnostics.
