Job summary

Leidos seeks a Senior / Lead Substation Protection & Controls Engineer to own P&C designs for 12-500 kV systems, applying advanced digital logic and AC/DC circuit expertise to protect the grid and enable renewable integration.

You will lead design teams, develop relay and AC/DC schematics, control panels, BOMs, and provide guidance through installation, testing, and energization, with opportunities for licensure support and leadership growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required.
• Experience leading/substation protection and control projects.
• Ability to communicate clearly with internal teams and clients.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support delivery of substation protection and control design projects.
• Create relay oneline diagrams defining protection zones and topology.
• Develop AC schematics showing current, voltage, and device relationships.
• Produce DC control and protection schematics for safe operation.
• Design control panels, wiring diagrams, and layouts for constructability.
• Build accurate BOMs aligned with project criteria and client requirements.
• Perform QC checks on wiring and schematics for safety and accuracy.
• Contribute from scoping through energization and commissioning.
• Provide guidance during installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Apply NEC requirements to ensure safe, compliant designs.
