Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Substation Project Engineer for our Lakewood, CO office. Lead, design, and deliver utility-scale substations across multiple phases, coordinating with the Power & Energy Substation Team.

Responsibilities include technical leadership, QA/QC reviews, and client coordination while ensuring safety and compliance. Travel to project sites may be required, with on-site, hybrid, or remote work depending on location and business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 7–10 years of post‑education substation design experience for utility-scale projects.
• Experience leading electrical engineers on concurrent projects.
• Knowledge of P&C, SCADA, telecommunications.
• Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD Electrical or Inventor.

Responsibilities

• Support Area Lead/Dept Manager to achieve goals and maintain high standards.
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, quality, and deliverables.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of technical deliverables before client submission.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship across multiple substations.
• Prepare design documents and coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulators.
