Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Substation Project Engineer for our Saint Louis, MO office to lead multi-site substation design projects within the Power & Energy Substation Team. You will mentor junior staff and manage project execution in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

A hybrid or in-office setup is preferred, with remote consideration for qualified candidates. You will contribute to design, QA/QC, and coordination across disciplines, ensuring compliance with industry standards while

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
• PE license and substantial post-education experience in substation projects.
• Experience with 15kV–230kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Ability to lead multiple concurrent projects and mentor junior staff.
• Strong technical writing and coordination with cross-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide high level technical guidance for due diligence, design, and construction of substations.
• Develop schedules, budgets, and deliverables for assigned projects.
• Coordinate with alliance clients, report on project status, and assist in proposals.
• Direct detailed design work (one-liners, schematics, wiring, SCADA) for HV substations.
• Mentor team members and ensure QA/QC and compliance with standards.
