Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Substation Physical Engineer to lead high‑impact substation physical design projects across 12 kV to 500 kV, shaping grid modernization. You will develop layouts, grounding, and foundation designs and coordinate with clients and internal teams to ensure safety, reliability, and schedule adherence.

The role requires a BE/TE? degree with 8+ years in substation design; PE license preferred and travel to sites.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) with 8+ years of substation physical design experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; PMP beneficial.
Experience with grounding studies, lightning and lighting analyses.
Strong communication and leadership abilities with clients and internal teams.
Willingness to travel to project sites and client locations.

Responsibilities

Lead and support the delivery of substation physical design projects, ensuring technical excellence and on-time performance.
Partner with internal engineering groups and external clients to meet needs and exceed standards.
Perform QA/QC reviews on substation design packages for accuracy and constructability.
Read and review one-line, three-line, plan-and-section drawings and grounding layouts.
Create and verify bills of materials for substation components.
Conduct site visits to collect data and support project execution.
